The pass mark for the Malaysia Regional Round last year (2019) was 80%. The maximum passing marks are subjected to change without notice should
there be a large amount of participants of high standards of performance. A certain percentage of marks go to musicality, skills, sense, knowledge of the contents, and techniques.
Additional marks are given to those who excel at their ability in musical expressions, uniqueness, handling of the instruments, projections and others. The results are then averaged out to
arrive at the final score. For this year's 2020 Malaysia Regional Round, successful candidates who are awarded Gold/Silver/Bronze will receive their respective award certificates. All other
participants will receive participation certificates.
The pieces must be performed in order. Compulsory pieces comes first otherwise, the contestants will be disqualified.
The pieces for the final round, except Concerto Audition and Solo Recital Course, may be changed. Contact Secretariat between 21 August and 5th September.
The final round piece can not be changed out of this period of time.
The contestant will receive the schedule and other information approximately 10 days before the date
of each scheduled regional round and final round.
If the contestant plays a specific movement(s) or excerpt(s) from a suite or variation, it must be clearly noted on the application from.
If the contestant plays more than one piece/movement, they must be played in the order written on the application form.
No repeats are allowed.
The piece should be performed without the score, except for the Section I: Woodwinds, Section II: All categories except Four Hands (only in Regional Round),
Solo Recital Course and the Concerto audition, Section III: Excellence, Superior, Junior, Senior, Silver, Infant and Duo/Ensemble Course.
Actual performing time may be shorter than the designated length of performance. When longer, the jury will stop the contestant. The performing time will not
affect the result. Duration will be timed from the line marked on the stage.
Arranged or shortened pieces are not accepted. (Accompaniment may be omitted.)
Improvisation, prepared piano, etc. are not permissible.
Except for unaccompanied pieces, contestants should play with a piano accompanist.
Contestants are required to bring his/her accompanist and perform with accompaniment.
Contestants for entries other than piano must bring their own instrument, pedal extender/platform, footrest, etc. - - The order of performances in the final
round shall be decided based on an alphabetical order. Starting letter will be decided by the Executive Committee.
Application fee submitted along with the form is not returnable unless the competition does not take place.
Travel, accommodation and other costs must be borne by the contestants.
The contestants must obtain the necessary visas to visit Japan.
No inquiries about the judging procedures are permitted.
The 1st to 3rd prize winners in the final round must attend the Award Ceremony. (A proxy is acceptable, except for those who appear in the Grand Final=Gala
Certificates and medals can be sent to those who fail to attend the Awards Ceremony. (Shipping fee will be charged.)
The contestant and audience are strictly not allowed to take photograph and make audio/video recording during the competition. If such activities are found by
one of the staff, the contestant will be banned from the competition
All the performances and the right to broadcasting, recording, filming and photography in the competition and concert which are related to the competition,
belongs to the OSAKA International Music Promotion Society. Contestants have no claim over rights for them.
